Denim…the new black

Spring is right around the corner, and we can all feel the buzz. In Atlanta, we have had some uncharacteristically warm days recently and it has us all dreaming about ditching our jackets and heavy layers for shorts and dresses. And the first pieces that come to mind when I think of Spring/Summer staples are jean shorts and jean skirts. Get excited though – this season denim is going way beyond simple skirts and shorts. It has become the new “go to” textile for many styles and looks… the “new black” so to speak.  Let’s take a look.
Simple denim has really upped its game by taking a page out of the retro lookbook. Patchwork jeans and paper bag shorts/pants are great examples with their 1980’s feel. A pair of patchwork jeans mixed with a basic white tee turns into an elevated way to wear this classic, “jeans and tee shirt”, casual look. We also couldn’t help but add in our QUADSis™ Denim Elizabeth’s for that denim-on-denim vibe that can’t be beat. And speaking of denim-on-denim, pairing a chambray button up shirt with a pair of denim paper bag shorts is an easy way to look on trend without really trying. (Tie the shirt in the front or do a front tuck to show the elastic waist on the shorts!) Pair this look with the QUADSis™ Green Apple Elaine Too’s for a pop of color and you are ready for anything.

Another not so basic denim look is something like this acid wash romper. Paired with the QUADSis™ Green Apple Elaine Too’s, it feels young and fun, and yet still very appropriate for a tween/teen girl. In this same vein, a pair of dark washed denim overalls with a simple white tee is an easy, yet fun and pulled together look. Pair this outfit with the QUADSis™ Bubble Gum Elizabeth’s for a pop of pink (which is THE color for spring). These looks are super easy to throw on but look elevated and fun!

On those cooler spring days, long sleeved options are a must. Denim jackets make for the perfect layering piece over a cute tee and a ruffle skirt. Paired with the QUADSis™ Silver Elizabeth’s, you have a pulled together look that can go from school to dinner out that night. Another way to handle those cooler evenings is to go from shorts to jeans mixed with a soft sweater. Chambray shorts paired with a pink long sleeve sweater and the QUADSis™ Chambray Elaine Too’s could be great for daytime during early spring. Going shopping with friends that night? No problem – throw on a pair of distressed jeans paired with that same pink sweater and QUADSis™ Bubble Gum Elizabeth’s for a different look that both highlights the versatility of denim AND keeps you warmer.

Have a day where you need to be a little dressier? No problem – denim has you covered. Either one of these dresses would be a great, no fuss way to go. Paired either with the QUADSis™ Denim or Gilver Elizabeth’s and you have a look that will be comfortable and cute all day long.

And just to throw in one more way to wear denim this Summer… Throw on a denim skirt over a one-piece swimsuit and you have an appropriate way to walk to the pool or the beach that looks more like an outfit vs. a swim cover up. Paired with the QUADSis™ Bubble Gum Elizabeth’s you could even take this look to lunch on a patio somewhere before you hit the beach!

As you can see, the ways to wear denim are endless and we hope you incorporate it into your Spring/Summer wardrobe in new and different ways this season! And remember – QUADSis™ shoes are the perfect complement to any denim look!
