The new “it” girl of the season – Velvet!

Velvet seems to be the material of the hour these days – from shirts to pants to shoes and beyond.   Maybe it’s a little nostalgia (bringing back decades past?) or maybe it’s just a soft, luscious textile that makes us all feel warm and cozy.  The “new flannel” so to speak.  Regardless, it’s the new “it” material and we are here for it.   We came up with a few ways to style it that we want to share.  And obviously, we couldn’t help including our QUADSis Elizabeth’s and Elaine’s in the mix.  😉

Starting with a classic black velvet empire waist dress for the win this Valentine’s season… Pair this with the silver Elizabeth’s and you are ready for any party out there.  Want to change it up a bit?  Add a great leather moto jacket and the black leather Elaine’s and you have totally changed the vibe of this whole look.  Edgy meets classy = a combination that gets noticed – in a good way.

The ante on a casual jeans and white t-shirt look can easily be upped by pairing it with the “it” material of the season.  The charcoal velvet Elaine’s take this from basic to elevated in a blink of an eye.   The mix of the more casual denim and the rich velvet is what makes this interesting.   Same concept applies when pairing a burnt gold velvet top with distressed gray boyfriend jeans.  The combination of the dressier with the very casual is what makes this really work.  Add in the black leather Elaine’s to complete the look and all we can say is #winning.

A fabulous deep, rich emerald green is also trending this season.   Pairing this deep green WITH velvet is a combination that will not lead you astray.   Here are some examples… A classic black, cropped velvet top paired with deep pine green paper bag pants.  Combine that with the black patent Elizabeth’s and you have a sassy look that can go from day to night.  As we head into Valentine’s season, another way to add in that pop of green is to pair the pine Elaine’s with a classic, simple black dress.  This combination of simple and lux ups the volume on any LBD.

As you can see, velvet should be your new best friend this season.  From shirts to dresses to shoes and more, it is versatile and a great way to spice up your look without even trying!
